Pure Somerset honey
Pure Somerset honey with nectar collected from village gardens throughout Somerset, the colonies are distanced from any large mono-culture farmed crops... this is a delicate multi-floral honey with complex flavours.
One teaspoon of pure Somerset honey is made from approximately 336,000 flower visits and is the lifetimes work of 12 honeybees, be sure to savour every drop!
-
Raw honey, extracted using traditional methods at room temperature (heating and cooking with honey breaks down the enzymes which are part of the amazing heath benefits of honey), if making a hot drink for health reasons, add the honey last, just before drinking and stir in well.
-
Minimally filtered - twice filtered under gravity - not pressure fed, again preserving the active enzymes.
-
Produced by our own bees - from hives throughout Somerset.
Our honey, contains all the natural enzymes and anti-microbial goodness that nature intended because we use a traditional but time consuming method which ensures that the enzymes are retained, preserving the potency of this liquid gold.
We never harvest more honey than any one colony can spare - we ensure each have retains enough of their own superfood to last them through Winter and into Spring before we harvest again. While this means our stocks are smaller than large scale bee-farming, our bees are all the more healthier and more resistant to disease because of this.
We limit our apiary sizes to four colonies per well stocked acre. While this makes more work and travel for us, it is healthier for our bees and less competitive for wild pollinators of which 35 species are under threat of extinction.
You can taste the difference in our honey.
Raw honey should not be fed to infants under 12 months old.

Some see selling honey as exploitation — we see it as a partnership.
We practise ethical beekeeping that supports wild pollinators, strengthens local ecosystems, and helps protect bee populations threatened by habitat loss, pesticides, and climate change. In our hives, the bees always come first: queens’ wings are never clipped, swarming is allowed, and the bees keep the vast majority of their honey. The small surplus we harvest funds their care and conservation, helping us maintain healthy, thriving colonies that pollinate the plants we all depend on.
Our apiaries are limited to a maximum of four colonies per well-stocked acre to avoid competition with wild pollinators. At our Steart site, we’ve reduced this to just two colonies due to local ecological pressures.
We’re committed to raising awareness of the challenges facing wild pollinators — from habitat loss and the decline of wildflower meadows to the scarcity of safe, chemical-free forage. We plant for all pollinators and leave parts of our garden to grow wild, and we encourage you to do the same.
