Spanish Oak Honey:
Daily Immunity Support
Spanish Oak honey, renowned for its rarity and rich nutritional profile. This dark, robust honey offers a distinct, earthy flavour, complemented by subtle hints of caramel, malt, and a touch of smokiness, making it a truly unique and indulgent choice.
A Bold Superfood from the Forest
Deep, dark, and delightfully complex, oak honey is unlike your average spoonful of sweetness. Harvested from the honeydew of oak trees rather than floral nectar, this rich, earthy honey carries subtle hints of caramel, malt, and a whisper of smokiness. Less sugary than many other honeys, it’s a favorite among those who crave depth of flavor—and a powerful boost to their health.
Here’s a closer look at the science-backed benefits of this forest treasure:
A Heavy Hitter in Antioxidants
Oak honey is loaded with antioxidants, natural compounds that help neutralize free radicals—unstable molecules that can damage your cells and contribute to aging and chronic diseases like heart disease and cancer. Remarkably, oak honey has been found to contain higher antioxidant activity than many other honey varieties, making it a potent ally in protecting your body from oxidative stress.
A Friend to Your Gut
Your gut is home to trillions of microbes that influence everything from digestion to immunity. Oak honey contains prebiotics, the nourishing fuel for beneficial gut bacteria. By feeding these microbes, oak honey may help maintain a healthy gut microbiome, easing issues like bloating, constipation, and even diarrhea. It’s a sweet way to support smoother digestion and better nutrient absorption.
Natural Microbe Fighter
Oak honey isn’t just rich in nutrients—it’s naturally armed against harmful microbes. Studies, including one supported by the Turkish Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry, have shown that oak honey demonstrates strong antimicrobial properties, capable of slowing or stopping the growth of certain bacteria and fungi. Researchers believe this action—primarily through a bacteriostatic mechanism—makes oak honey a promising player in apitherapy, the medicinal use of bee products.
Battling Bacteria and Fungi
In lab tests, oak honey has shown effectiveness against some familiar and troublesome pathogens, including Staphylococcus aureus (a common cause of staph infections) and Candida albicans (a yeast behind thrush and other fungal infections). These antibacterial and antifungal properties may offer natural support in fighting infections—without contributing to antibiotic resistance.
Soothing for Sore Throats and Coughs
Thick, sticky, and naturally antiseptic, oak honey is a time-honored remedy for soothing sore throats and calming coughs. It coats irritated throat tissue, helping reduce discomfort, while its antimicrobial properties may help tackle the underlying infection. It's no wonder this honey has earned its place in many herbal medicine cabinets.
Support for Wound Healing
Topical honey use is nothing new—it’s an ancient remedy backed by modern science. Oak honey, in particular, shows promise for accelerating wound healing thanks to its antibacterial action and anti-inflammatory effects. Early research suggests it may help reduce infection and promote faster tissue repair when applied to minor wounds and burns.
Naturally Rich in Minerals
Oak honey brings more to the table than just antioxidants. It’s also a source of essential minerals, including potassium, magnesium, phosphorus, iron, and sodium. These nutrients support a wide range of bodily functions, from muscle and nerve activity to energy production and blood pressure balance.
The Takeaway
Oak honey is more than just a gourmet indulgence—it's a nutrient-rich powerhouse with a long list of health benefits. Whether you're looking to strengthen your immune system, support digestion, or simply enjoy a complex and satisfying flavor, oak honey delivers on all fronts.

Are your products Vegan?
No.
Some see selling honey as exploitation - We see it as a partnership.
We practice ethical beekeeping which supports wild pollinators, strengthens local ecosystems, and helps protect bee populations under threat from habitat loss, pesticides, and climate change. In our practice, the bees always come first: queens’ wings are never clipped, swarming is allowed, the bees keep the vast majority of their honey. The small surplus we harvest funds their care and conservation, ensuring more healthy, thriving colonies to pollinate the plants we all rely on.
Our Apiaries are limited to a maximum of four colonies to any one well stocked acre. This means more work and expense for us but helps mitigate pressure for resources on wild pollinators. Our Apiary in Steart is now limited to two colonies due to the pressure on pollinators.
We work hard to raise awareness of the plight of wild pollinators, suffering from lack of habitat, loss of wildflower meadows, lack of safe chemical-free food. We plant for all pollinators and leave areas of garden to go wild and encourage you to do the same.
